FLYING BROOM’S
There once was a girl named Sidney Johnson. She had blonde hair and green eyes and she was eight years old. Sidney liked to pretend to fly. One day Sidney was playing with her friends at school, during recess. Brandon, a boy in her class, wrote a love note saying “meet me after school so I can kiss you.”
She read the love note out loud by mistake. She got teased a lot from her friends who heard. After school they chased her, “Oh lovey girl,” and “I want to see this kissing.” She ran away as fast as she could. Suddenly she found a store and was hiding in the store to get away from the kids. It was a magic store that no one else could see, but her.
The store keeper was magic and he made the store invisible with his magic invisible powder.
She saw a flying broom and she wanted one. The cashier said, “You look ready for one of these.” She picked out a Nimbus 3 million and 4. The cashier said, “This broom is invisible to anyone but you and when you touch it, you are invisible too. It will take you wherever you want to go. Just tell it where you want to go.”
It was really tall and skinny and it has new bristles that were a light brown color. It had one big streamer ribbon in the back, and it had all kinds of colors of glitter glue on it. The glitter was permanent. There was a nice comfy chair for a seat. In the front, by the handle, there is a magic window shield that Sidney could look through that helped to slow down the vision where she was going. This helped so she wouldn’t get broomsick. There is also a little step you step on to get on, that folds when she fly’s.
Sidney asked the cashier how much money it was and he said, “It’s free for you.” Sidney said “Thank you.” He said “Come again”.
When she got home, she opened the box. There were flying instructions with it. It said, “Push off the ground with your feet and then lean forward to go. When you want to come down, your feet must be straight, to land.” There was something else. On the bottom the instruction was writing that said, “Meet me at the park on the summer’s first full moon, at midnight.” It was from the cashier that gave her the broom. Sidney understood what to do.
She flew her broom to her friends house but she hid her broom under her coat, when she got there. That was so no one could see it. When she left to go home, she uncovered the broom and got on. Now she was invisible. She typed on the keyboard on the broom, her address and the street. It knew where to go. She felt really happy with the wind in her face. She almost made herself broomsick because the broom was going so fast.
When Sidney got home and she got off her broom she was visible again, but now the broom wasn’t. It was still invisible. “Cool” said Sidney. I am glad to have this broom,” exclaimed Sidney. The next day at school she did her work silently. She usually likes to talk to her neighbor and asked questions but this time she knew what to do on her paper. Her teacher asked what was wrong. Sidney said nothing, so the teacher left her alone.
After school she went home to do her homework. Sidney heard a sound from her closet. “What was that?” Sidney sighed. She got off her chair and opened the closet door. The noise was coming from her broom. It wanted to get out of the closet because it doesn’t like that dark place. Its like a devil in there. So she got done with her homework and she went for a flying ride.
She had a fun time. She liked looking out of the magic window at everything going past her eyes. While she was soaring through the air she said, “It’s past dark. Take me home.” The broom took her home but it said, “Don’t put me in the closet. It’s too scary and I get lonely in there. OK?” Sidney said OK.
The broom had magic dust and it gave some to Sidney. She took a pinch full of dust, said “Mippy Moppy had a power, make a landing area with flowers.” She then threw it down and special landing bed with daisy, tulips, roses, and begonias appeared. The broom loved it so much that it tried to cry. It didn’t have real tears for real crying. She got to keep her special friend-broom for that year.
To soon it was time for that Summer Night. She went to the park like the note said. She was heart broken because she really loved her broom. She meet the store cashier and gave him her broom. She knew that she only got to keep it for a little while.
On the way home she was crying and the tears were rolling down her face. When she got home she saw a picture of her broom and there was a big diamond taped on that picture. It was another present from the broom. Now she had both the picture and the diamond for her to keep and remember her broom. She then felt better because she could be reminded of the fun they had together.
